Northern Wind was established in 1987 as a direct off-loader and processor of scallops. The company dedicated itself to consistently supplying customers with quality products at superior service levels and competitive prices. Over the years, the company refined its ability to deliver a full range of fresh and frozen scallops (Domestic as well as imports.)

Over the past year Northern Wind has partnered with a couple of Chilean Seafood Companies to import the finest Chilean Blue Shell Mussels and Chilean Atlantic Salmon Portions.

This ability to be on the cutting edge of the scallop industry has led to increased seafood sales and profit for our customer-partners. It has also led to Northern Wind’s leadership position among suppliers.

Consistent, Quality Supply

  • Northern Wind is run by two hands-on, working owners with over forty years worth of experience in scallop supply. Ken Melanson, the CEO and Michael Fernandes, the President.
  • As a direct source, Northern Wind has long-standing relationships with the scallopers. We off-load their products at our portside processing facility on a daily basis.
  • We work with the boat owners to improve harvesting and handling techniques insuring better quality products.
  • Northern Wind is also a major importer of scallops.
  • The Northern Wind plant is a state-of-the-art, HACCP-approved facility. Equipment is constantly monitored and upgraded.
  • The plant personnel also undergo continuous training.
  • The company has passed the rigorous inspection standards of national foodservice and retail companies resulting in mutually profitable, partnership programs.
